competitive and inclusive Europe
“Support for children and adolescents in a psychological crisis triggered by isolation and lack of social relations” is a project organised by e-learning.pl, Fundacja Dajemy Dzieciom Siłę (Empowering Children Foundation) and the Icelandic non-governmental organisation Heimili og skóli.

The campaign is to address the emergence of unfavourable phenomena caused by the pandemic and isolation affecting children and adolescents. Its overriding goal is to improve the knowledge of pedagogical and therapeutic staff, as well as of parents in the field of recognising crisis symptoms in children and adolescents and responding in a timely manner.

Completed stages of the project:

Guidebook “Problematic Use of the Internet by Children and Adolescents”
Download the guidebook for teachers, school counsellors and psychologists, as well as other professionals working with children, and learn how to cope with excessive use of the Internet by children and adolescents.

The problem involving the excessive use of the Internet by children and teenagers had been observed long before the pandemic. The recent, anxious years have greatly intensified this phenomenon. The disturbing intensification of that problem can also be observed from the perspective of therapists’ offices. Therapists are seeing more and more young people with symptoms of Internet addiction. Feel free to download the latest report and learn how to overcome these challenges.

About EEA funds
The project “Supporting children and adolescents in psychological crisis due to isolation and lack of social relationships in the online world” benefits from a grant of EUR 139,798.00 received from Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway under the Education Programme, which was set up under the intergovernmental Agreement on the implementation of the Financial Mechanism of the European Economic Area 2014–2021. The EEA funds represent Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway’s contribution to a green, competitive and inclusive Europe. There are two general objectives: reducing economic and social inequalities in Europe and strengthening bilateral relations between the Donor States and 15 EU Member States in Central and Southern Europe and the Baltic Sea area. The three Donor States work closely with the EU under the Agreement on the European Economic Area (EEA). The donors provided EUR 3.3 billion under successive fund programmes between 1994 and 2014. The EEA funds for the period 2014–2021 amount to EUR 1.55 billion.

The priorities for the period are:
          1. innovation, research, education and competitiveness;
          2. social inclusion, youth employment and poverty reduction;
          3. environment, energy, climate change and low-carbon economy;
          4. culture, civil society, good governance and fundamental rights;
          5. justice and home affairs.

The EEA Funds are jointly financed by Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway, whose contribution is based on their GDP. Eligibility for the funds arises from meeting the criteria set out in the EU Cohesion Fund for Member States with per capita gross domestic income of less than 90% of the EU average. The goal of the Education Programme is to reduce economic and social disparities within the European Economic Area and to strengthen bilateral relations between Poland and the Donor States (Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway) in the field of education.

About the Project
The brand e-learning.pl, together with Fundacja Dajemy Dzieciom Siłę (Empowering Children Foundation) and the Icelandic foundation Heimili og skóli, has been executing the project entitled “Support for children and adolescents in a psychological crisis triggered by isolation and lack of social relations” since January 2022. The project is scheduled to have been ended in December 2023.

It is to address the emergence of unfavourable phenomena caused by the pandemic and isolation affecting children and adolescents. The overriding goal of the project is to improve the knowledge of pedagogical and therapeutic staff, as well as of parents in the field of recognising crisis symptoms in children and adolescents and responding in a timely manner.

Activities planned under the project provide for developing a coherent educational programme to counteract unfavourable phenomena occurring among children and adolescents caused by isolation and functioning online. This programme will comprise the development and implementation of a complete educational path for children aged 6-10 and 11-15, which will also comprise lesson plans along with a package of interactive materials (tests, exercises, audiocasts, video materials); e-learning training and webinar. It will all coincide with the creation of remote learning handbooks to support effective online education. All multimedia materials will be made available within a dedicated remote learning platform, to which all target groups specified in the project (children, adolescents, teaching staff) will have access.

Who is the project addressed to?
The target group is employees of educational institutions educating children – teachers, school counsellors, psychotherapists, including social workers. As part of the project, a pilot was established, under which all materials will be used to deliver a course for 30 school counsellors/teachers/employees of institutions supporting children. Working this way, our plans include reaching 600 children and 960 parents.
Institutions executing the project
PThe project is executed by Konsorcjum doradczo-szkoleniowe SA (e-learning.pl brand) in collaboration with Fundacja Dajemy Dzieciom Siłę (Empowering Children Foundation) and Heimili og skóli (Home and School – National Association of Parents) from Iceland.

Tasks of partners under the project:
  • Within the project, e-learning.pl is the Project Leader and is held responsible for all issues relative to the creation of multimedia resources or the e-learning platform.
  • As far as Fundacja Dajemy Dzieciom Siłę (Empowering Children Foundation) is concerned, it is responsible for the substantive side of the project, providing content for multimedia materials and delivering support and consultations in the field of diagnosing and responding to problem-bearing situations, which are the area of project activities.
  • Heimili og skóli (Home and School – National Association of Parents) – an Icelandic non-governmental organisation which acts in the project as a consultant in the field of best practices for children’s and adolescents’ safety while online.
